SuitUP™ 4x4

SuitUP™ 4x4

The Easiest SuitUP™ Game to Learn... and the Hardest to Stop Playing.

Looking for a fast, exciting game that anyone can learn in just a few minutes?

4x4 is one of the simplest ways to play SuitUP™. It's quick to set up, easy to understand, and full of strategy, making it perfect for family game night, camping, parties, or anyone who loves a little friendly competition.

The goal is simple—but winning is another story!

Objective

Be the first player to lay down 4 sets of 4 matching cards and finish with the lowest total value in your remaining hand

Number of Players

2–10 Players

Cards Dealt

  • 2 players: 10 cards each
  • 3–6 players: 8 cards each
  • 7–10 players: 7 cards each

Place the remaining cards face down to form the Draw Pile.

Turn over the top 4 cards and place them face up in the centre of the table. These become the Exchange Piles.

The player to the left of the dealer goes first.

How to Play

Step 1 – Start Your Turn

Choose ONE of the following:

  • Draw one card from the Draw Pile, or
  • Take one card from any one of the four Exchange Piles.

Step 2 – Can You Make a Set?

If you now have 4 matching cards (for example, four 5s), lay the set down in front of you.

Step 3 – Refill Your Hand

After laying down a set, draw enough cards to return your hand to its original size.

For example:

  • In a 4-player game, everyone starts with 8 cards.
  • After starting your turn by picking up from the draw pile or exchange piles, lay down four cards, then draw three to bring you back to 8 - make sense?

You may draw replacement cards from:

  • the Draw Pile,
  • the Exchange Piles,
  • or a combination of both.

💡 Tip: Pay attention while drawing! Every card you pick up can change which set you decide to build next.

Step 4 – Can't Lay Down?

If you can't make a set, discard one card.

You can only discard on one of the four Exchange Piles.

Your turn is over.

Winning the Game

The first player to lay down 4 complete sets of 4 ends the game.

However...

The winner must also have the lowest total value in the cards remaining in their hand.

If another player has a lower total, they win instead!

Strategy Tips

  • Watch which cards your opponents pick up from the Exchange Piles.
  • If someone is collecting a particular value, avoid helping them!
  • A well-placed discard can completely change the game.
  • Don't focus only on completing sets—keep your remaining hand value as low as possible.

4x4 is proof that the simplest games are often the most addictive.

Easy to learn. Too hard to stop.
