SuitUP™ Original

The Original Game That Started It All.

SuitUP™ Original is easy to learn, quick to play, and becomes more strategic with every turn. Build sets, create runs, watch your opponents, and race to empty your hand with the lowest score.

Whether you're playing with family or friends, every game is different.

Objective

Be the first player to discard your last card. The game ends immediately, and every other player adds up the value of the cards remaining in their hand.

Lowest score wins.

Number of Players

2–10 Players

Cards Dealt

  • 2 players: 12 cards each
  • 3–5 players: 11 cards each
  • 6+ players: 9 cards each

Turn one card face up to begin the Discard Pile.

Place the remaining cards face down to form the Draw Pile.

Play begins with the player to the left of the dealer.

Card Values

  • Number cards = Face value
  • Jack, Queen, King = 10 points
  • Ace = 10 points
  • Action Cards = 20 points (if playing with Action Cards.

How to Play

Step 1 – Start Your Turn

Begin every turn by drawing one card.

You may draw from:

  • The Draw Pile, or
  • The top card of the Discard Pile.

Step 2 – Your First Lay Down

To make your first play, you may lay down ONE of the following combinations:

Three of a Kind

  • Three cards of the same value.

Example:

  • 5 • 5 • 5

Run of Four

  • Four consecutive cards, all in different suits.

Example:

  • 5 • 6 • 7 • 8

Important: Even if you have multiple combinations, on your first lay down you may only play one combination.

Step 3 – Future Turns

Once you've made your first lay down, you may:

  • Add cards to any sets already on the table.
  • Extend any runs already in play.
  • Start new sets or runs.

Runs may grow to 8 cards and must always remain in sequence with all different suits.

Step 4 – End Your Turn

Always finish your turn by discarding one card onto the Discard Pile.

If you cannot lay down any cards, simply discard one card and play passes to the player on your left.

May I? Rule

If another player discards a card you want, say "May I?"

  • The current player always has the first opportunity to take the discarded card.
  • If they decline, the option moves clockwise around the table until it reaches the player who asked.
  • If you take the discarded card out of turn, you must also draw one extra card from the Draw Pile.
  • You do not discard after taking the card.
  • Play then returns to the original player's turn.

Last Card Rule

When you have one card remaining, you must announce:

"Last Card!"

If another player catches you before the next player draws a card, you must immediately take two penalty cards.

Important Rules

  • You must always start your turn by drawing and end your turn by discarding.
  • Runs must stay in sequence and every card in the run must be a different suit.
  • An Ace may be played high or low, and runs may wrap around.

Example:
3 → 2 → Ace → King → Queen

Winning the Game

The game ends immediately when a player discards their final card.

All remaining players total the value of the cards left in their hands.

The player with the lowest score wins.

Strategy Tips

  • Don't be too quick to discard—someone else may be waiting to say "May I?"
  • Watch the cards your opponents are collecting.
  • Remember that keeping low-value cards in your hand can make the difference at the end of the game.
  • Calling "Last Card!" is just as important as getting there first!
